Hi!
Here’s part 2 of the Seche Vite vs. INM Out The Door battle.
You can read part 1 in my previous post.
On January 6th I did a manicure with Catrice London’s Weather Forecast, the same color I used in part 1. It’s a dark grey color with a very slight shimmer which is more visible in the bottle than on the nail.
I applied Seche Vite and INM Out The Door in this way:
Left hand:
pinky INM
ring finger SV
middle finger INM
index finger SV
thumb INM
Right hand:
pinky SV
ring finger INM
middle finger SV
index finger INM
thumb SV
I know it’s still “unfair” because I use my right index finger the most (I’m right handed). But this is the best way I could come up with. If I do, for example, 2 full manicures, one with SV and the other with INM, they wouldn’t be exposed to exactly the same environment, which is the case now.
This is what it looked like right after I was done (this is my left hand):
As you can see, no big differences here. I did notice that the INM nails were less shiny and I could see brushstrokes.
So I just went about my day as I would normally do.
After 2 days already (January 8th), the first chip appeared on my thumbnail of the left hand, so this one had INM on it. It’s not entirely “valid”, because I already had a tiny tear there so it chipped very easily. As you can see, it took off a whole chunk of nail polish and left a tiny crack further down.
On January 8th at night, I went bowling and this is where things started to get really ugly. I lost a very big chunk of polish from my right thumbnail, with a big piece of nail attached to it
I decided to take everything off of my thumbnails to save the rest of the nail. So I had 8 nails left.
Today (January 10th), my nails looked like this (top right hand, bottom left hand):
I think this test is over. It just doesn’t look representative anymore, but plain ugly. So they lasted 4 days. But I have to say that Seche Vite has chipped more than INM. INM does chip, but when it chips, the chunks are not very big.
At the end of this test I can only say that both topcoats have their pros and cons. I cannot say INM is better than Seche Vite or vice versa. For example, Seche Vite gives a glossier finish than INM, but INM shrinks less than Seche Vite. It’s what you prefer.
I made a table to sum up the most important things. Hope this was helpful!
