Last week I went to my local drugstore and of course picked up some polishes. Three, to be precise. One of them was Catrice Caught On The Red Carpet (the other ones were Catrice I Sea You and Hema blue metallic polish; I will swatch them another time). Usually I don’t buy reds or pinks, because they’re too boring for me. But the blood red color of this one caught my eye (I wonder why
). It’s more of a jelly than a creme. That gives it more depth, but it means it’s usually a bit harder to apply evenly and to get it opaque.
The application was not very good. I got a lot of cuticle pooling so it meant a LOT of cleaning up and I hate it because it takes a lot of time. It’s not completely opaque with two coats. But I went with two coats anyway. Drying time is ok.
This color was very hard to photograph. With flash it shows way too red, but without it, I couldn’t find the right light to capture the color. The following pics are the best I could do. As you can see, my fingers look yellow because of the artifical light
Oh, and ignore my cuticles. I just cleaned my cuticles with acetone so they look dry. I promise they will look better in the final pics!
As NOTD I decided to paint the tips (well, actually half of my nail) with the Essence tip painter in Sparkly Silver. I just randomly painted strokes with varying lengths to give it a nice, playful effect. This one was hard to photograph as well because of the glitter. Of course it looks way better in reality…
Hope you enjoyed it!
